The Delaware Water Gap The Delaware Water Gap

Day Hikes

Our day hikes typically cover six to ten miles with altitude gains of one to three thousand feet. All of our hikes are non-technical and require no special training or experience. A good set of hiking boots is the only equipment required for day hikes.

Frequent destinations include Bear Mountain and Breakneck Ridge in the Hudson Highlands, the Delaware Water Gap area, and Mohonk and Minnewaska Preserves.

Multiday Trips

Multiday trips tend to be more strenuous than day trips. Most of our overnight trips are backpacking treks, where each person has to carry all of their own gear, which can amount to 30 pounds or more. Typically we'll cover the same distance and elevation as a day trip, often more, and for two or three consecutive days.

The Catskills are the closest place for backpacking, but we frequently get out as far as the Green Mountains (VT), the Adirondacks (NY), the Whites (NH), and the Blue Ridge (VA).
