Trip Signup Procedures

You can sign up for a trip right from this website. Simply click on the "Schedule and Signup" link on the left-hand side of the page and follow the instructions.  You must be a member to sign up for a trip, so be sure to sign up for a membership first.

Waiting Lists

Each hike has a specified maximum number of participants. For day hikes, this is usually 10 people in addition to the leader and driver, but it can vary. If there are no places left for a hike, this will be indicated on the signup page by the note "Waiting List Only". If you choose to sign up for the waiting list, the following policies apply:

  • For a chance to go on the hike, you must show up at the appointed meeting time and place. If there is room on the hike at that time, because of no-shows or other reasons, you can go.
  • We cannot email or call you the night before to let you know whether there will be room for you. The fact that there is a waiting list indicates that guaranteed spots for the trip are taken.
  • If you are on the waiting list, show up for the hike, and are turned away, we'll refund your hike fee.
  • If you sign up for the waiting list but don't show up for the hike, we won't refund your hike fee.
  • Waiting lists are processed in the order that people sign up. You can see on the trip signup page the number of people already on the waiting list, and judge your chances of going according to that.

We'll do everything we can do accomodate those on our waiting lists - we hate to turn you away - but we can't break state laws or school policies. Most of the time the group size is limited by transportation laws (number of people we may have in the van) or conservation management regulations (number of people allowed in a hiking group).
